Lovely Lakeside Cabin Holiday Homes on Lake Garda
TUI Villas makes the wealth of choices for holiday apartments at Lake Garda a lot easier to manage, helping you find a perfect fit for you and your family. Nestled at the base of the Dolomites in northeastern Italy, Lake Garda is the country's biggest lake and one of Italy's most popular summer holiday destinations. Don't be overwhelmed by the number of villas on offer – you can easily get customer support from TUI Villas, who will be on hand to answer any questions and help you make the right decision for your next family holiday to Italy!
About Lake Garda
Straddling the provinces of Veneto and Lombardy, beautiful Lake Garda is lined with charming Italian villages, historical castles, glittering churches and, of course, stunning natural beauty. Book a holiday apartment on Lake Garda, well known for summer vacations and ski holidays, and look forward to having a home away from home you won’t want to leave.
Swim, sail, surf and summer sun
A favourite summer vacation spot for Italians and foreign visitors alike, Lake Garda has no shortage of facilities for you to make the most of your time on the lake. In addition to great swimming beaches safe for families with kids of all ages, Lake Garda has holiday homes by yachting marinas where you can hire a boat or launch your own. If you’re into windsurfing or kiteboarding, there are plenty of places around the lake where you can hire gear or get a lesson during summer.
Cosy cabin holiday homes on Lake Garda for romantic getaways
TUI Villas has a range of holiday homes across Lake Garda, reflecting its diversity of natural landscapes. Couples hoping for a romantic getaway can hide away in a secluded lakeside cabin near one of Lake Garda’s smaller villages, or totally away from it all in the hills overlooking the lake. Have a look around on TUI Villas for something that suits your needs and your budget, whether that be a lavish modern holiday apartment right on Lake Garda, replete with a private pool or hot tub, air conditioning and a second-storey master bedroom with lakefront views, or a studio with on-site parking and a patio terrace facing the hills.
Family-friendly holiday homes at Lake Garda
If you’re planning on bringing the whole family – including furry friends – then you’re spoilt for choice. TUI Villas have a number of dog- and pet-friendly holiday homes around Lake Garda, including some that also have on-site parking and plenty of space for dogs (and kids) to run around without worrying about traffic. If you need space for a big group, you can find villas with as many as 10 or more bedrooms. Alternatively, in Lake Garda’s charming small towns, you'll find holiday apartments with laundry facilities, WiFi and air conditioning – great options for young families with small kids.
Go skiing by your holiday apartment on Lake Garda
Ski holidays are synonymous with winter holidays in the Dolomites, and a holiday apartment at Lake Garda is no different. You'll have the best of both worlds with a holiday home here, sitting between the lake and the mountains. Take the cable car straight from the picturesque town of Malcesine, on the eastern shore of Lake Garda, up to Monte Baldo, which has over 40km of beginner, intermediate and advanced ski trails. Alternatively, drive or bus to various ski resorts within the vicinity of Lake Garda, including Folgaria, Pinzolo and Madonna di Campiglio, all of which will be no more than an hour or two from your holiday apartment on Lake Garda, even from beautiful Peschiera del Garda right at the southern end.
Explore around Lake Garda
An advantage of booking holiday apartments on Lake Garda is that you’ll be able to hop around easily to explore different parts of the lake. For history and culture, don’t miss out on Riva del Garda, the region’s historical capital with ancient city walls, a medieval clock tower, several museums and the unique Rocca castle, a millennium-old fortress surrounded by water that regularly hosts performances and art exhibitions. For a city experience, head to Romeo and Juliet’s hometown of Verona, only 20 miles from Lake Garda’s southeastern tip. Nearby Lake Iseo, just an hour through the hills on Lake Garda’s western edge, is a small, serene Italian setting that promises total relaxation and great swimming during summer.
How to get to Lake Garda
Considering the area's dramatic mountainous terrain, Lake Garda is impressively well connected by train with the rest of Italy, as well as Great Britain. Many low-budget and national carrier airlines fly into the various airports around Venice and Milan, with Milan’s Bergamo airport (a hub for low-fare travel) particularly easy to reach from Lake Garda. There are many well-known rental car companies at the airports, though it's also possible to bus or drive from either city comfortably in under three hours. Aeroporto Valerio Catullo, just outside Verona, is the closest international airport to Lake Garda, though the connections with the likes of London, Manchester and Dublin are not as frequent as Milan's or Venice's.
When to visit Lake Garda
Regardless of what kind of holiday home at Lake Garda you’re looking for, it’s best to know a bit about the seasons before you book. For ski holidays, December to March is the time to come, although winters aren’t as bitingly cold as they are in the Alps further north. Summers see long sunny days and temperatures soar into the high 30s, perfect for swimming and water sports. For hiking and rock climbing, spring and autumn are both very pleasant, with the odd chance of rain showers but far fewer crowds than July and August.
