This region not only boasts some of Denmark’s best beaches, but also averages more sunshine than anywhere else in the country - meaning you’ll have plenty of time to relax by the sea and feel the sand between your toes. A wealth of natural sights, attractions and destinations can be found inland, and you can hop across the water to Sweden or Norway in just a couple of hours. Anglers can try their luck with a rod and line on the Uggerby River or alternatively jump on a cutter and set sail for the rich fishing waters of the Golden Reef. Early in the morning, you can experience the rich local atmosphere at the fish auction hall at Hirtshals, while nature lovers will enjoy the exciting marine life at the North Sea Museum, the region’s many aquariums, and the eagle reserve, where you can observe these large winged predators at close quarters. Alternatively, the ’Fun Park’ open farm, with its many different species of animals, provides an exciting day out for all the family.
